Deck chair

show text

The chair is put together and knocked down with no use of tools.

The deck chair is made of two thin sheets of walnut plywood and two sets of springy steel legs. The sheets are sewn together in the centre line and are opened like a book when the chair is put into use. In this movement the seat is forced into its 3D shape, and the springy steel legs are fixed in the wooden mounts on the underside. The legs now hold the shape of the seat, and the seat holds the legs in position.

The chair is standing by the forces trying to collapse it.

The chair is sold in a limited series by Gallerie Maria Wettergren in Paris: http://www.mariawettergren.com
