Materials and construction

Frame: Made of solid ash.

Seat: Laminated ash veneers.

The inherent resilience of the materials is the structural idea behind this piece; thus, the two planes of the seat hold the legs both in the unfolded and in the folded state. The top sheet itself forms hinges that revolve around the bars of the frame. The lower sheet locks the construction when the stool is unfolded. The two veneer sheets are joined along the central axis with connecting screws. When the stool is unfolded, the two sheets are tightened and form the seat and brace, respectively.
