Comfort through elastic slats

Through many years, Erling worked with the natural springiness of thin wooden slats – inspired by the works of the multi-artist Gunnar Aagaard Andersen.
The idea is to weave the slats into a linen or wool cover. This controls the bending of the individual slat, and you get additional comfort by sitting on a textile, which also enables colour in the seat.

This was done in collaborations with the weavers Annette Juhl and Hanne Vedel.

Later on, Erling experimented with thin plywood, cut into strips, flexing to fit the body of the sitting person.
